Campaign Master Narrative: Consul's Landing
The Original Story: The Great Ascent
The city of Consul's Landing was built as a sanctuary for those fleeing the "Wasting." The Dwarven Kings provided the stone and the foundation, while the Gnome's constructs provided the labor to build upward.
The Current Conflict: The Shadow Utility War
The players are caught in the middle of a "Cold War" between three factions:
- The High Council: Ignorant of the Necromancy, wanting "Goblins" killed to keep the peace.
- The Dust-Skulker Alliance: Goblins and Dragonborne "Guarding Together" to keep the Necromancer's old forge sealed.
- The Syndicate (Krenko/Silas): Siphoning the city's lifeblood to fuel the Architect's return.
The Key Plot Points
The First Soul
Parallax was one of the original Series 1 constructs. He was built with a "Prime Soul Stone" containing a high-frequency soul that acts as the "Master Key" for all construct logic. The Necromancer needs Parallax to trigger the Grand Broadcast.
The Dwarven Split
The Dwarven Kings (ancient rulers of the deep foundations) have long mistrusted the surface High Council. They believe the Council has forgotten the "Blood-Price" paid to build the city and are ignoring the theft of their ancestral scrap metal.
The Syndicate Influence
Krenko is the industrial hammer for the Necromancer. By stealing scrap and siphoning energy from the Engineers Guild, he is building the Foundry -- the factory that will replace the city's living population with mechanical husks.
The Legacy of the Kings
The Dwarven Kings are the only ones who know the true location of the "Original Forge" beneath the Dust-Skulker warrens. They keep this secret as a burden of honor, knowing that if the surface ever found out how constructs were truly made, the city would collapse into civil war.
The Intelligence Report: The Industrial Shadow War
Krenko's Foundry Mechanics
- The Chassis: Uses siphoned scrap and wire to build "Tokens" (Series 2). No souls, rely on binary commands.
- The Heat: Toxic runoff burning the Druid's roots is a byproduct of the Foundry's Cooling Chutes. Krenko dumps thermal waste externally to avoid detection.
Syndicate vs. Thieves' Guild Stalemate
- The Hearts: Soul Stones from Maliki's first-gen constructs. Vesper scavenged them years ago.
- The Conflict: Krenko wants hearts for Maliki's "Masterpieces." Vesper views Krenko as a "noisy amateur."
The Symbiosis of Survival
- The Shield: Dragonborne Enclave (Elder Rykar) guards the "Hard Zones."
- The Fuel: Cavern-Blind Trout Heinrich sells fund Dragonborne medicine and surface-gear.
- Syndicate Goal: "Boil the water" with Foundry runoff. Kill the fish --> Goblins starve --> Economic pillar falls --> Dragonborne retreat --> Mountain passes fall to Maliki.
